Coming up on the next show - we're proud to present the newly-restored 50th Anniversary edition of Alfred Hitchock's spy vs. counterspy masterpiece "North By Northwest." Cary Grant was at his charming best and Hitch was in fine form weaving this complex tale about a man who does not exist. There are new and classic special features to go along with this meticulous, million-dollar restoration, and we'll tell you all you need to know about this deluxe package.
We'll also look at a modern thriller, the 2009 "re-imagining" of "The Taking of Pelham 1-2-3." John Travolta and Denzel Washington go head-to-head in the tense hostage drama that plays out on a hijacked NYC subway train. Back to reality for a few minutes, we'll investigate two worthy documentary sets - first "The Genius of Charles Darwin" hosted by the always controversial Richard Dawkins then "Ancient Lives" which steers away from history's big stories in order to present an intimate look at the everyday lives of ordinary people from ancient Egypt. All that plus our weekly honorable mentions and Geek Picks from right off our shelves. It's all live and it all starts at 7pm Central only on Fearless Radio ! |

Indie Comic 'Sheds' Light on Shattered Lives |

I’m a fan of comic books, but I know very little about them. Truth be told, I’ve never reviewed one. However, recognizing good storytelling requires no expertise. As a lover of film, I appreciate the similarities between the two mediums, as well as their differences. Film rests in the hands of the director while books take on a life of their own through the reader. These two worlds have collided through many studio blockbuster exploits, but few feel genuine and personal. Sure, there are the Neil Gaiman’s of the world, but those are far and few between.

Our friends at the SciFi Diner Podcast had so much fun dishing with Mary, our Televixen, they brought her back for more lively conversation about all that is new in the world of SciFi entertainment.
They dish about "Dollhouse," "Heroes" the recent settlement with Harlan Ellison's claim over story rights for Star Trek's "City on the Edge of Forever" and much more. There are also a few words about Robert Beltran's seemingly off-color remarks about "Voyager" in a video interview. Stick around for their interview with "Battlestar Galactica" star Richard Hatch and more! Give them a listen here ! |

Tonight's DVD Geeks promises a jam-packed, action-filled adventure from sci-fi to sci-fact, from the ultimate friendly neighbor to the ultimate farbissen.
When Battlestar Galactica ended its series run on TV, we knew it was only a matter of time beofre the specials/reunions/clip-shows started popping up. Now, before the offiical launch of ther prequel series "Caprica," we get a feature-length Glactica special called "The Plan" directed by Edward James Olmos. We'll see how well this movie (intended to shed more light on the Cylons) fits into the rest of the mythology. Once Cylons attack (or maybe a less fantastical disaster) what would happen to Earth if all the people were gone? The History Channel's "Life After People" uses dazzling special effects to explore just that question from a few minutes after humaity is gone to tens of thousands of years. Next up, we'll look at Woody Allen's latest - and entirely appropriate collaboration with Larry David called "Whatever Works," then we'll revisit an '80s horror classic "Night of the Creeps" which is finally getting it's DVD debut. Joining us to discuss this long-awaited title is DVD producer Micahel Felsher. We'll round that out our featured new releases with the charming series "On the Road" from veteran CBS newsman Charles Kuralt. Finally, we'll explore the drool-worthy new bluray edition of the classic Patrick McGoohan series "The Prisoner." We manage to squeeze in a couple of geek picks "Shaun of the Dead" and "Slither" as well as our weekly honorable mentions - check out the podcast now ! Be seeing you... |

We do have a taste for schlock here at Geek HQ. This week, we'll take a long, loving look at the new William Castle Collection DVD set -it's a full 8 films on 5 discs plus the comprehensive biopic "Tingler: The William Castle Story." Castle's films star the likes of Joan Crawford and Vincent Price as well as a parade of B-movie stars and plenty of blood and gore. Castle was a great showman, and we'll give him his due.
Next up we'll take a look at Sam Raimi's return to the horror genre with "Drag Me To Hell." If you're not completely freaked out, we'll then shift gears to the all new Monty Python DVD set "The Other British Invasion." We'll delve deep into un-aired and rare sketches as well as the all new interviews with the Pythons and comedy luminaries like Hank Azaria, David Hyde Pierce and Jimmy Fallon. We'll have all those and more plus our weekly "Geek Picks" all starting live at 7pm on Fearless Radio ! |
