Our Televixen, Mary, had the chance to interview the youngest cast member of JJ Abrams' "Star Trek" at the Creation Star Trek Las Vegas convention . Meet Jacob "Young Spock" Kogan...
We pick apart Michael Mann's gangster epic "Public Enemies" about the cat-and-mouse chase the notorious bank-robber John Dillinger gave to the FBI's Melvin Purvis. Mann is known for attention to detail and creating visceral moments in his films - we'll se how this prohibition-era story stacks up with his earlier efforts.
Next up, we leave the world of gangland warfare for the kitchen with "Julie & Julia," Nora Ephron's film about famous gourmand Julia Child and how she inspired a modern-day blogger. If youre looking for inspiration for your life outside of the kitchen, then you may want to consult with "Xavier: Renegade Angel," the man-beast from Adult Swin who spouts off new-age aphorisms in his cross-country quest.
Finally, we'll have a look at "Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian" some vintage Sherlock Holmes starring the great Basil Rathbone (well before Robert Downey Jr. gives up his take later this month) and out weekly "honorable mentions," Geek Picks and more.
On the next DVD Geeks, we've got the original space-hero in a dazzling 70th Anniversary collection - "Buck Rogers"!
In 1939, Buster Crabbe had already starred as the two top pulp heroes, Tarzan and Flash Gordon, in a series of serials. Buck Rogers launched in 1939 and, although it only lasted 12 episodes, it left a permanent impression on the pop-culture landscape. To celebrate the anniversary of the serials, VCI entertainment has released a restored collection on DVD along with brand new bonus features.
We'll also have a look at the Adam Sandler/Judd Apatow collaboration "Funny People" - a drama (that's funny) about commedians struggling to get to the top and hold their fragile lives together.
Rounding out the show will be discussion of other noteworthy new releases like "Angels & Demons," "Monster Squad" on Blu-Ray and much more!
Plus, don't miss the guys from SciFi Diner telling us all about the "Farscape" complete series box set and how you can WIN your very own copy!
All that and more - it starts LIVE at 7pm only on Fearless Radio !
[Production note: we had some technical issues in the studio tonight: please bear with us - the audio quality will clear up during the show.]
The long-anticipated, much-ballyhooed "Star Trek" relaunch by JJ Abrams and team heralded a new era for the Trek franchise. Even if some fans found nits to pick, it sure did keep them talking for the better part of the summer of 2009. Now with the release of "Star Trek" on DVD, geeks like ourselves have a whole new opportunity to explore the details - in frame-by-frame glory - along with a wealth of special features.
We did something special for the occasion. Joining us is Trekland blogger and friend of the show, Larry Nemecek. Aside from being Trek's online and oral historian, Larry is a convention favorite with his fingers on the pulse of the fans. We geek out with Larry and learn his take on this whole new universe. In addition, we are announcing some very exciting giveaways in our latest team-up with our pals over at Trekcast.com . You can win"Star Trek" on BluRay as well as swag (t-shirts, posters and more!) from the new movie.
We also welcome a really big “Star Trek” fan – Garrett Wang from “Star Trek: Voyager.” That’s right, he’s a bit of a Trekkie too! You won’t want to miss what he has to say about his favorite film of the year.
We'll switch gears ever so slightly just in case you think we're too single-minded. Sacha Baron Choen's film "Bruno" gets a deluxe DVD release this week as well as another superlative special edition from MGM - the 70th anniversary of "Gone With the Wind."
All that plus Geek Picks, honorable mentions and more!!! If you missed the live broadcast, you can tune in now or download the show from iTunes (be sure to leave us a comment while you're at it!).

The third time was truly a charm as Mary, our own Televixen, sat in with the guys at SciFi Diner podcast to talk about the new "Star Trek" DVD. Joining them were Trek authors Dayton Ward and Kevin Dilmore.
If we didn't know better, we would think Scott and Miles were trying to steal her away, but we're always glad to share the Geek love with our fellow 'casters.
Give the show a listen - it's a fun conversation among five scifi fanatics who are passionate about their Trek, and we hope this is just the start of many more collaborations!
