Tonight, we'll have our first blow-out, end-of-the-year retro-styled nostalgia-filled best-of spectacular!
Since long before he was a "DVD Geek," our very own Rory has been churning out an annual list of his favorite movies. We'll spend the better part of the program getting a rundown of the top 10 releases he liked (and didn't like) in 2009. In addition, John will share his top 5 DVD titles from 2009, and Mary the Televixen will chime in with her favorite TV shows on DVD from the last year. Don't miss it! We'll have the usual assortment of honorable mention new releases, we'll tell you what cool DVDs were under our Christmas trees this year, and we may even share a few predictions of what to look for in 2010! It all starts at 7pm LIVE on Fearless Radio ! |

It may look like Christmas everywhere you go, but here at Geek HQ it looks like time to rock. We have a unique documentary about the electric guitar featuring three diverse talents: Jimmy Page, The Edge and Jack White. The three riff about their styles, their influences and then sit down for an epic jam sessions all under the direction of the same team who brought you Al Gore's "An Inconvenient Truth."
Next up, we'll delve into the world of supernatural thrillers with the indie smash "Paranormal Activity." Joining us to discuss the ins-and-outs of scary movies and things that go "bump" in the night will be special guest Scott Markus, filmmaker and erstwhile paranormal researcher. Finally, we'll see what Peter Jackson cooked up from outer-space instead of middle-earth with the alien invasion story "District 9." All that and much more plus our weekly geek picks, honorable mentions, news and dazzling commnetary! It all starts at 7pm Central LIVE only on Fearless Radio ! |

3 Geek Picks from Star Trek Season 3 |
|
Written by Administrator
|
|
We have a soft-spot for all things “Trek” around here - you almost can’t be a geek these days without some sort of reverence for the franchise that practically created modern-day fan obsession.
This week marks the release of the third season of the original “Star Trek” series on Bluray, and it’s something of an event. Finally, we fans have a complete collection of DVDs in beautifully restored high-def as well as a trove of new special features and the option to watch the shows in their original, un-retouched format.
We wanted to do something a little different to celebrate, and we invited some of our favorite Trek commentators, writers and gadflies to present us with their three top "Geek Picks" - three episodes or moments from season three that are essential viewing for fans. See comments from Larry Nemecek, Dayton Ward, Jerad "Super Spock" Formby and more after the jump, then see our furhter comments on what makes this Bluray set worth owning! |

Interview- Terrance Zdunich unveils what lies beneath "The Happiest Place on Earth" |
|
Written by Televixen

One of the reasons we like Terrance Zdunich here is that he truly pours himself into his projects. Not only has he developed some reknown for his creation of and performance in "Repo! The Genetic Opera," but he has also proven himself to be an accessible and thoughtful commenter on his work. We're always glad to see Zdunich crossing the country to present screenings of "Repo..." and entertain fans with discussion afterward. When he started publishing his own comic, "The Molting," we knew we had to get our hands on it to see what his creativity would spawn next. Best yet? He's a geek just like us - he's a fan of horror, sci-fi, comics and all the geeky pursuits that make us proud.
Here, our own Televixen catches up with Zdunich to talk over the current release of "The Happiest Place on Earth," issue 2 of "The Molting," its future and what plans he has in store... A 450-page-illustrated novel is quite an ambitious undertaking. What inspired you to write The Molting series?
It was the setting. I grew up in Santa Ana, California, which is a neighboring city of Anaheim, which is where Disneyland is located. At the time that I was growing up Anaheim was really a slummy neighborhood and so even as a kid I remember looking at basically the happiest place on Earth and it was smack dab in the middle of a really grimy city with overcrowded houses and a lot of illegal immigrants and crime and I just thought what a weird paradox.
